Homemade meals

so lately i've been really into cooking and once a week i'll make myself and john a meal. i've been doing this for a month ish maybe longer. a few weeks ago i made chicken enchiladas, i got the recipe from the food network, but i spiced it up and made it my own! last week i made stew from an online recipe and unfortunately i didn't buy enough veggies and was kinda going off of what i already had so i didn't have to spend too much but i'm stoked to make it again to add more veggies. i like making stew and soup because i put half of it in a tupperware and in the freezer. yesterday i made fried rice. i started cooking the rice and i had frozen broccoli so i just put it in the microwave then cooked up a scrambled egg and once that was cooked i added left over bell peppers and added the broccoli and rice when they were both done and added soy sauce. i was pretty impressed! i also added crushed red peppers to give it a little kick and it was great! i usually add crushed red pepper to a lot of things because i love that kick that it gives. i'm starting to really like cooking. luckily i have a radio in my kitchen so i can listen to music while i'm cooking, its nice! i'll post pics of other meals that i make!

kind of disturbing...

today at work (we close at 6pm on sundays) a lady who is considered a "big jcrew spender" but really isn't, decided she was going to stay an extra 40 minutes past 6 in the store. great... so we comes in around 530 and picks out everything and gets to the dressing room at around 545 and spends a half hour in the dressing room. she then comes out to get employee opinions and asked how much time she had until close, the three of us were a little taken back by this question because we assumed that she knew what time it was (it was 615...) so we told her the time and she said she'd hurry but obviously didn't. but once she was out and at the registers she couldn't decide what to get and kept asking opinions of if something was cute or what color would look best on her. Now here's the disturbing part, she asked me to grab an XL cardigan, so i did, and she continued to tell us how it was for her daughter and how her daughter was petit but she "wouldn't dare to get her a small" <-- exact words! uhhhh.....seriously????! you are getting an XL for your "petit" daughter... no correction, you are getting an XL for your large daughter. this was very disturbing for me because i have seen her daughters and they are no where near petit. as for me, being a genuine petit person i was disturbed and offended. fat people get offended so why can't small people?
so here's to all you moms, please, for everyones sake, accept your daughters the way they are. everything will be better and everyone will be a lot happier and less confused

22!

I'm 22 now! This is the beginning of the twenties where it's not too cool anymore...except for 24 or 25 when you can rent a car haha. but besides that i had a pretty awesome birthday! I ended up babysitting in the afternoon because i needed the money and i'm glad i did because everyone was either working or at school so I would've had no one to hang out with anyways hahaha.

I went to dinner with a bunch of friends for half-off sushi and then went back to my house and ate the most delicious cake ever, sex in a pan, because it is haha! my roommate chrissy made it for me and my other roommate brittany made a cake too but it turned out looking like a pile of cake haha it was still really good tho!

after cake we went to the the VFW (veterans of foreign war) bar and tons of friends showed up there! It was a good time seeing everyone

all in all it was a great day!

Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight!

soo I'm back at school...yayyyy...not! ha!
i'm taking college algebra with my favorite math teacher, liz, love her haha and english once a week on friday at 8am blahh sucksss and drawing and painting. i'm actually really enjoying the classes so far, I know they'll get harder which then will ruin my thoughts towards them but for right now i'm keeping positive. i actually don't mind the 2 morning classes anyways; gets me to bed early, my morning started, and since i can't take naps anymore (i don't know why...i wish tho don't get me wrong!) but tired enough to WANT to go to bed early haha.
i nanny every tuesday and thursday afternoons and i work at jcrew every friday, saturday, and sunday so i don't really have time to stay out late anymore unfortunately...my social life has gone down hill but i need the money so i'm okay with putting it on hold for a little bit (daytime activities with friends are good, but nighttime...ehhhh im tired ha!). life will pick up and get more hectic once ski season starts...i'm pretty stoked!

to everyone on the east coast-- fall is about to start, i'm pretty jealous!
west coasters-- lets enjoy the fall for the two weeks that it lasts haha!

One Week in Utah in a new house

Once we got home from California I had a week to work and move and do whatever in Utah because I was heading home at the end of that week. I ended up working 6 of the 8 days that I was there and it paid off because I needed some money for when i went to connecticut. I did a lot of eating out too :/ because I didn't want to grocery shop and then just leave and have all my food go bad...I still bought some snacks and frozen pizzas from the store. Brit and Chrissy moved everything while i was in california to our new house which is the best house ever haha we got our living room set up and it is the best room because we have a bunch of couches and my futon and directtv so we hang out in that room a lot. we love the new house!

California

John and I spent 10 days in California this summer and it was the best trip ever! We spent a lot of time at the beach even though it was cold! First of all the temperature was perfect, but it was also windy at the beach pretty much the whole time we were there so with the perfect temperature and wind it created chilliness on the water :/ super bummerrrr. Other than the beach we did a lot of shopping and hanging out with John's family. His cousin Kellie got married in the Newport Beach temple at the beginning of our stay. Since Gerita was the photographer for the wedding John, Kristian and I named ourselves the 3 best friends that anyone's ever had! Gerita named herself the Other haha :) After spending a bunch of time in Garden Grove and Huntington Beach John and I went south to San Clemente to visit my family. My dad and my uncle John flew in and Jeff and Derek were already there so it was awesome! Its been awhile since I've seen everyone so it was great to spend the time with my family! My aunt Brittany had her second child, Teddy, and it was so awesome to meet the little guy! instead of being "cousin lauryn" i'm "aunt lauryn" that makes me feel better haha Jack was teh cutest guy ever. He's still learning to talk and do everything and it was so adorable! the last day that we were with my family we went to Teddy's baby blessing and then headed to the park for some good ol' family fun. we stuffed our faces with delicious food then played 2 games of croqout! it was soo much fun!

John and I had so much fun in california, we didn't want to leave! We're stoked that we have family there so its so easy for us to leave utah whenever we have some free time and peace to california haha

Newest

Saturday to Sunday John and I spent the night in Park city and the next day went to PCMR and rode the alpine coaster and slide and then we took the bus to main street and walked Park Silly market. Tons of people and it was soo hot. They didn't have the farmers market there so i was bummed :/
Monday Brit Chrissy and I hung out all day and brit and i decided we wanted burgers from Shivers so we jump in the car and 5 minutes into the ride we get hit! the lady did not put on her brakes so we were hit pretty hard. luckily it wasn't my fault :) but super inconvenient since i'm going to california on friday and supposed to be taking my car, but oh well i guess i'm taking the rental!
so yesterday i had to run errands since my car is messed up. i got an estimate though and it's about 2,300 worth of repairs so not too bad but sucks that i have to get my car repaired in the first place.
today i got to work! yay! i needed that little extra money for california anyways
tomorrow i got to run errands again and drop my car off and get the rental and then go nanny and then go up to park city to sleep then leave for california!
guess what everyone?!? i'm getting DUNKIN DONUTS AND YOU'RE NOT!!!!!! WOOOO!

What I've been up to

One free day my friends and I decided to go for a hike up Little Cottonwood canyon. We had no idea what we were getting into. it was so hard! at times we wanted to turn around and not finish the hike but we were so glad that we didn't because there was a beautiful lake at the top.
Wednesday and Friday I went to Echo Lake with friends to jump off the cliffs. i did it once and i was done! But fun to hang out with friends.
Works been pretty slow so I've had a bunch of free time and as much as I would love to work and get some money, its been so much fun!
This friday I leave for California. it's going to be the best! I'm so stoked for the beach!

The Best Month Ever!

I would like to take this opportunity to share with everyone about the people who made my trip home amazingly awesome! A few are my roommate/old roommates, a couple are best friends from years ago, and the last two are best friends I never knew I had. So here it goes!
Brittany- I got to spend a couple days at her house/s in New Hampshire and it was the best. I also got to go back up to New Hampshire for a night to celebrate her 21st birthday! I was so happy I got to be part of the festivities on the east coast and now I'm really looking forward to living with brit downstairs! I think it was meant to be!

Jeff- I'm sooo happy I got to see you finally! Its been what? A year? Yeah, something like that haha and I just didn't want to leave your side! Jeff's been one of my best friends and an old roommate and I love and appreciate his friendship :)

Sean- It was so good to see you again finally, too! Have fun this summer, be good buddy!

Tim- You're the best! I know you'll always look out for me and have my back.

Britton- I don't really know what my life would be like without him. He's been my very best friend since 2007 and I really don't see that changing ever. I'm so glad you're home, brit, its been the best and I'm really sad to leave you. I know you'll always be here for me no matter what :) love you kid

Jesse- Thanks for picking me up from the train station! And in the short time that I've seen you this trip I've had a lot of fun hanging out. I hope to see you in the next couple days before I leave.

Gloria- I'm soooo glad I reconnected with you! You're definitely a best friend that I never knew I had! Last night was amazingly fun and I wish I could be there every Tuesday night by your side at karaoke. I really hope that we will continue our friendship and see each other every time i come home!

Last, but not least!
Bryan- I will try and keep it short because I think I could type like a full page about this kid haha. To start, Bryan and I knew each other in the dorms, not very well, but we always had the same friends even when we lived in our own houses and I'm so glad I finally got to know him. Well, I think Bryan was my number one life saver the whole month I've been home. We've done so many fun things together to keep ourselves busy and away from boredom and its been so much fun! Even though I got grumpy about being at the beach for 8 hours it was worth it in the end. I definitely appreciate my new friendship with Bryan and I really hope it will carry over back to Utah. Thank you so much, Bry, for making my trip amazing! I'm sorry I can't stay to finish the list, but we both know it'll get done soon enough :)

Weekend with old Roommates

Last Thursday Bryan and I met in the city and checked out the Central Park Zoo. it was really small, but I've never been there so I've only compared it to the cartoon movie Madagascar haha! We saw some monkeys, snakes, seals, and a sun bathing polar bear. After we strolled on over to Sheep Meadows in Central Park and set up camp under the sun. Bryan was pretty impressed by my skills to put on my bathing suit without taking off my clothes first haha I'm very proud of that skill too! Bryan and I took the train back to Connecticut and just hung out with my brothers for the rest of the night. Friday Bryan and I went to the beach...it was 15 dollars to get in! sheeeshhhH!! So we laid out for a couple hours and then Bryan skated at the skate park there while I caught up on the phone with my girllll! We decided to head back to the house and I took a couple detours to show him my area in ct, it was fun! We got back and got ready to go out to dinner with my mom and then Harley had to come cuddle with me and I fell asleep and so did Bry. I accidently left my phone downstairs so while my mom was calling me for an hour to meet her I was passed out with Harley hahaha. sorry mom!
We ended up meeting up with her and then headed over to Iron Man 2. Luckily the movie didn't really rely on the first one because Bryan didn't see it and we tried to rent it beforehand but they were all sold out, but he was fine.
Saturday we decided to take our time and got some Garden Catering (yummmmm) love ittttt and then we headed up to New Hampshire! Once we got there Ellie made the best dinner! sooo delicious! then we headed over to Jeff's place and I got to see my bruisey!!!! i missed him! not so much jeff! haha just kidding :) it was so good to see jeff again. we all headed over to Brit's brothers house for a birthday party and then got picked up by brits mom haha she's the best!
Sunday we all got ready and then headed up to Sunapee, sorry Sean for making you wait! sean was waiting for us at the lake house! so good to see him! 10 mins later Ryan shows up and then jeff and his friend and Sarah a little bit later. we all laid out on the beach and the boys played around the water bike and raft. We stayed out for the sunset which was beautiful and then headed inside and hung out. Nick Fairall came over and it was soooooo good to see him!! i haven't seen him in sooo long! it was a great time seeing everyone and my old roommates sean and jeff :)

I really don't know what is wrong with this but it won't let me upload pictures :( sooo i don't know...

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one

City, city, city! I loovveee it there! And luckily so does Bryan! We met in Times Square, me coming from Connecticut and he came from Long Island and we went to his brothers apartment in Brooklyn. We just dropped our backpacks off and then romped around. Brooklyn wasn't too entertaining and we spent most of our time on the subway :/ but we finally made an excellent decision to go to Central Park to check out Strawberry Fields. I loved it. I mean, it wasn't anything too special but just a beautiful mosaic in honor of John Lennon and it was just so peaceful. Bryan and I sat there for awhile and watched a kid ask a girl to prom! He lit candles that spelled out "Will you go to prom with me" and it was kind of windy so random people started helping him light the candles because they kept blowing out. So there was quite the crowd when the girl came and everyone cheered when she said yes. That was fun to watch. We sat on the rocks at the lake in the park until the sun went down and then headed towards NYU to parrtttyyy! We ate at a cheap place and the food wasn't that good, figures, and then just bar hopped after. We went to like 5 or 6 bars and then called it a night and headed back to Brooklyn. We were pretty tired this morning and sore from all the walking. I'm back home now and I'm about to check out for a nap. Enjoy!

ps- pics still aren't loading onto my blog...i don't know why but check out my facebook they are on there

Roadtrip

I'm with Adam and Bryan and we're having a blast! Yesterday we drove up I-15 into Idaho and into Targhee National Park and into the West side of Yellowstone! It's sooo beautiful there...and it was really cold! After driving through we exited the north side of Yellowstone and drove to Bozeman, Montana to meet up with our good friend Max. He took us out for awhile and then gave us (me) a couch to sleep on and the boys the floor w sleeping bags hehee i love being a girl :)
This morning we slept in till 9am and got ready to go and went to breakfast with Max, his mom Jen, and brother Sam, it was very delicious, i love breakfast food :) The four of us went to the Bozeman skatepark for Adam and Bryan to skate around before we hit the road again. While the two were skating Max and I were GTS-ing with my camera and the Flip video camera.
Bryan, Adam, and I got back on the road and drove east on I-90 through most of Montana then dipping down into Wyoming. Wyoming was very pretty for the first 30-60 minutes and then it got sooooo boring! I switched driving spots with Adam after about 4 hours of driving and Adam did about 2 or 3 more and finally had to stop for food, gas and to switch with Bryan because it was so boring! Bryan finished the drive from the last part of Wyoming and into Rapid City, South Dakota. We then drove a little under 30 miles south to outside of Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands.
We checked into the hotel early so we can get to bed early so we can get up early haha and check out Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands in the morning and then send it back home!!!
We're hoping to be in Buffalo on Friday spending the night at Adam's and then Bryan and I will send it to CT on Saturday...just in time for mothers day!

PICTURES WILL BE UP SOON! MORE WILL BE ON FACEBOOK SO CHECK THEM OUT!

Summertimeeeee

it's about to be summertime in the good ol' salt lake. although i despise the crazy heat here i'm still very excited to be around this summer. my summer activities include: cwood heights pool <3, grilling, the boys go disc golfing (i hate it :) ), fireworks in the park or on the golf course in park city, and obviously working at jcrew and possibly nanny job/s.
