i hate neighborhoods.

why you ask? well let me tell you. I grew up in a neighborhood where I couldn’t hear anyones dog or anyone for that matter. I couldn’t hear cars driving by because there weren’t any and I couldn’t hear freeway construction. And I’ve come to realize that I hate fenced yards and parks near houses. I also really don’t like having to pick my mail up in a mail house thing from a little box. Are the mailman in Park City too lazy to drive by everyones house and drop their mail off? Maybe they just don’t get paid enough…who knows, but I do know is that I like my mail dropped at my house. I had thousands of trees seperating my house from my next door neighbors and no fenced yard. I was able to roam the woods whenever I pleased and still couldn’t really see any of my neighbors houses (except for the wintertime)

I’ve been staying at my boyfriends house in Pinebrook, Park City and right now I can hear dogs barking, the neighbors music blasting, cars driving by and I hate it. I told him that I never want to live in a neighborhood like this…ever.

Sorry this is just me rambling. I’ve realized that I’ve been in a “hater” mood lately. Probably because I work so much and don’t get enough sleep. So I’ve been seeing more of the negatives in life than positives. Hopefully when school starts everything will be better. I can only hope…but until then I gotta make money so I can survive.

The Swanson's went camping! Here we drank 90+ beers, Steph and I went out on a boat on the lake, and swam at a campsite where the land eroded.

This is where I live, Park City, Utah, and I love it. Yeah, it sucks living with my dad, but Park City is awesome. Although I'll be living in SLC again starting fall for school I'm still so excited for winter and always having a place to stay when I want to ski multiple days in a row. come visit me you'll love it :)

Baby Brother Graduated!

We literally didn't think he could do it and he proved us wrong :) I'm so happy for him and so excited to see what the next chapter of his life brings him.

If you can't tell already I don't know how to work blogspot, but I changed up my blog finally, I've been wanting to do it for a long time, but the design feature on blogspot wasn't working on my computer for a long time. No idea why, but I'm glad I finally got to change it up. I like it, do you?!

Also, I use tumblr too, but I don't use it like I use blogspot, I don't really write things on it I find pictures and music on there and it's pretty fun, I like it. if you want to check it out the URL is: laursimz.tumblr.com soooo enjoy! xoxo:)

Kent Falls! well, not actually but it was pretty!

Hello everyone! It's been awhile as always and a lot of things have happened since I last posted. Well, let's see, since California I've:
-finished school for the year, that went well, still gotta do better and work on my attendance :/
-went home to Connecticut. There I...
-saw old friends. Some more recently old as opposed to some that I haven't seen since Hyde...so that was fun to catch up.
-went to bars because there is nothing to do in Connecticut, at night at least.
-got surgery in my mouth because I'm preparing to get an implant so they had to put a bone above the hole where my front tooth is supposed to be. Rocked no tooth for about a week and a half total. In that time I went to a bar to have a drink with my old friend Kevin and people were staring at me...usually if people do stare at me I don't really notice, but since I didn't have a tooth I was on the look out of starers and there definitely were. Usually I'm the one staring! :)
-my boyfriend John came out for a 10 day visit. I planned his trip so that he got there on the day of my surgery so he could take care of me :)
-John and I went to the Maritime Aquarium; saw some sharks, turtles, jellies, otters, meerkats, and last but not least the seals. Spent maybe about an hour and a half there. We were done in an hour pretty much but decided to putz around since we had nothing else to do if we left!
-we also went to the city! we walked from grand central to FlatIron District, saw the awesome FlatIron Building (one of my favorite buildings ever, if you haven't seen it look it up). We continued walking to Union Square and went to some of the store there, then caught a subway headed downtown and got off at Spring St. and walked around there too. We went to TopShop! I love it! We then caught a subway off to Coney Island in Brooklyn, it took forever! It was pretty cool, but all the old rides of Coney Island were closed :( There was a new park in the making called Luna Park. It looked fun too, but I wish I could've seen the old park up and running. We took the subway back into Manhattan and went back to Spring St. and walked down to Little Italy and found a restaurant to eat at. It was very delicious, I love Italian food! :) (except lasagna, i fucking hate lasagna...that's how much I hate it) We then went uptown and met up with an old friend from Hyde, Alina, and literally walked in a huge circle because it was too late to sit at a starbucks and there were no bars around...but it was still fun to see her!
-John and I drove an hour and a half up to Kent Falls in Cornwall, Ct. It was so pretty! and people could swim there too which is awesome! we brought Harley and that was fun, she loves swimming! there was kind of a little swimming hole up at the top of the falls so we let her swim around there and we walked in the water too. The actual swimming hole was at the bottom of the falls, but there were a lot of ppl there and we didn't want Harley swimming there and people getting upset.

-I moved to Park City with my dad right after school ended...I'm pretty stoked to be in PC because I work up there and one of my best friend Brittany lives up there too. Also some other friends live there too if I ever get bored of hanging with Brit (hehehee jkkkk!) Brit and I moved everything out of our house in SLC. It sucked. and we took numerous trips to Chrissy's storage unit because we kept finding things that were hers haha but I can't complain because Brit and Chrissy have moved my stuff TWICE! I owe them!

Well, summer school starts in a couple days. I'm not too excited for that, but I have to do it or else I'd be behind again... bleehhh...

Work is still work. I'm used to having 2 jobs and now I only have one. I still work at J.Crew but I would like another job. I've been trying to find a nanny job since they pay so well but it doesn't look promising since everyone who is looking for a summer nanny is requiring everyday and I can't do that :/

If you haven't noticed already there are pics from my CT trip up top!

Spring Break in California!.... winning?? YEP!

This past week was my spring break and John does online classes so it can go anywhere with him. Spring break kicked off with the Campus Rail Jam at the University of Utah and John competed. He ended up getting 2nd place and our buddy Giray Dadali got 1st and other friend Karl Fostvedt got 3rd.

Right after the rail jam was done we headed out to Big Bear, California probably around 5pm. We decided it was a good idea to crash in Vegas for the night since we didn't know the housing situation in Bear yet so we didn't want to arrive at 3am without somewhere to stay. We ended up getting a really good deal at the South Point hotel in Vegas. Right down the street from Dunkin Donuts :) We were going to get up really early and drive to Bear and ski, but when the alarm went off we definitely did not want to get up! And the weather wasn't the best at the mountain so we just took our time.

^^Bear Mountain.
When we got to Big Bear we headed straight to the mountain to find friends and get house directions. We ended up sharing a house with a bunch of people we didn't know, but it was awesome getting to know them. We all went out to dinner the first night and all went bowling the second night.

John competed in War of Rails on Sunday (was on Saturday but it snow 20 inches instead!) and got 7th! There was a lot of good competition, but I know next year will be better ;) A new friend, (for me, not John) Craig Coker put on the War of Rails last year and it was pretty small, more of like a "test" competition so this year it was bigger and next year Craig plans for it to be even bigger!
John and I decided to stay in Big Bear 2 extra nights. Monday we took it slow. Slept in and went to breakfast with Salt Lake friends and then went skiing for the rest of the day. At sunset John, Giray, and new friend Brendan and a local skier did a sunset shoot on the course they just competed on. We're pretty excited to see the pictures after they're edited!
We stayed Monday night then headed down to San Clemente to visit with Grandma & Grandpa Simmons

^^San Clemente Pier. (I didn't take this) In San Clemente we just hung out and relaxed because we had been skiing and not getting much sleep over the weekend. We went up to Seal Beach for some delicious lunch and then went down to Huntington Beach and did some shopping and took pictures with my plastic camera on the beach. I'm hoping for good pics!

Thursday we picked up Sean from Claremont McKenna College and headed back up to Big Bear and skied more. It was a lot of fun. Then we headed straight down to San Diego and met Aaron and Mom there.

^^San Diego harbor. We didn't stay downtown, but we were pretty close. Thursday night we went out to dinner with Aaron, Sean and Mom and Grandma Marie and then hit the sack. The 3 of us were beat from skiing and Aaron and Mom were tired from flying all day.

Friday we went down to the outlet mall which is literally on the border of Mexico, they have a gnarly looking fence and everything...so crazy! but got some good stuff! And then we went out to dinner with more family: Grandma Marie, Grandpa Anthony, Antoinette, Myles & Carissa.

^^Mission Beach, San Diego. Craig lives in Mission Beach so me, John, Sean, and Aaron all went and walked on the beach and then we sat on the beach for awhile. I wore my swimsuit so I got to get a little sun time in :) Craig found us and we went over to his apartment and hung out for a while and then we had to go get ready for family pictures.

^^La Jolla, San Diego. We did family pictures here at sunset. Then all of us went over to Grandpa Anthony's house and ate pizza and delicious pasta and the boys played video games for a little bit, but by the end we were just sitting around talking, enjoying each others company. We tried to head back over to Mission Beach, but it didn't work out and John, Sean and I got up early to go home and we had to drop Sean off at school on the way.
It's so nice to be back in my own bed! Not stoked for school or work, but I had an awesome time and definitely took advantage of my time off!
